Ar an leathanach seo

  1. Once upon a time there lived a poor woman. She had one son. He was very lazy, and he spent most of the day sitting in the ashes. After that he was called ashie-pet. Every night he went out and would not come back until it was late. This night as he was out he came to a stable. He went in and saw there was nothing in it but there were were chains in one of the corners. It was very dark and ashie-pie could not see where he was going. When he was some time walking about the stable he hit the chains with his shoe. No sooner has the chains stopped dinging than ashie-pet heard a door opening. About five minutes after-wards the door of the stable was opened and in came a witch. She tried to catch ashie-pet but he got away from her. He got out of the stable and ran away. When the witch had gone into the house, ashie-pet climbed the house and sat on the chimney. This witch had three daughter's and ashie-pet heard every word that was said below. One of the daughter's said she was very hungry. The witch told her to put down the pot for the stirabout and that if she did not eat it all she would kill her. When the stirabout was ready to be eaten the girl could not eat it because
