   it generally took two days and two nights to get the required colour from the logwood. It was then taken out in a basket and allowed to drain and then it was taken to a river and washed and left to dry.
   Next a smaller quantity of wool was dyed blue by the ingredient called indigo and mixed with wool which was dyed with copperas. Finally a very small quantity of undyed wool was added to brighten the colour. The three wools were next carded together and when carded displayed a very nice blue colour. It was then spun into thread and sent to the local weaver to be woven into flannel.
   The cloth was next sent to a mill called the "muilleann tuighala" (prounced túcála) in order to have it thickened. This blue material was made into frocks for the men and there was much rivalry among the women as to whom would have the nicest blue colour on her husband's frock.
