- In the village of Pollaturrick there is a very big swallow hole called the turick. All the water from Belmont lake and Ballyglass river flows into the turick and sinks there.The water goes underground through the village under the public roar, the railway, and a small river. It rises about a mile away in Cartown and flows out to the river Clare. Where the water pumps up is known as Tobardubach because the water is always dark looking. About fifty years ago the men that cleaned the river emptied a bag of feathers and a bag of chaff in the turick. The next day they saw the feathers in Tobardubach.
