- About seventy years ago a steward lived in Derrycarne. One day the steward went away and did not return until late that night. A man named Owen Flynn, Fearnaught, was in Derrycarne that night. At twelve o'clock that night they heard a horse and carriage coming into the yard and when they looked, there was no horse or carriage to be seen. At one o'clock the steward returned home. Then Flynn went home and every few minutes he would have to run to the side of the avenue to let the carriage pass. When he looked back he could not see the carriage at all.
