    and it surrounded their house and they could not get out. Before the flood rose very high, a few men rescued the people by means of a boat. There were a few cows and a horse there too, but they could not take them out, and they were drowned.
    When the bog went as far as Ballylongford Bridge, it got blocked, and the people had to cut it up with hay knives or it would knock the bridge and the people would be drowned. There are pieces of the bog to be seen still, along the banks of the river in which it ran.
