Ye all knew Sean Foran who lived at Shrownourd

Ye all knew Sean Foran who lived at Shrownown,
He met his sad fate coming from Tralee town,
Down from Castleisland two moonlighters strolled,
And left him to sleep on the groves of Mountcod [?]
It being on a Sunday, and in Summer time,
When meadows and gardens were all in their prime,
He went to Tralee, two men there he hired,
Through his land grabbing body five bullets they fired.
He fell from the car, and his head met the road,
And then his son Thady so loudly did roar,
Saying "father, dear father, for ever farewell,
For you body's on the road, and your soul is in hell".
He continued on till he went to Listowel,
And went to the Barrack to the dam police force,
Shouting and bawling, "old Foran is dead,"
Saying "now in his body are balls of lead."
Stretton jumped up, just like a blood-hound,
Saying, "get ready now boys, and we strike for the ground,
And when they came to view him, they suddenly stood,
For nothing could they see, but a large pool of blood.
