“The king may rule o'er land and sea, The lord may live right royally...”
The king may rule o'er land and sea,
The lord may live right royally,
The soldier ride in pomp and pride
The sailor roam o'er ocean's wide. The writer thinks, the poet sings,
The craftsman fashions wondrous things,
The doctor heals, the lawyer pleads,
The miner follows precious leads.I had a little dog and his name was Buff,
I sent him down street for a box of snuff,
He broke my box, and spilled my snuff,
And that's my story long enough.Oh the hobble gobble skirts, no more of them for me,
I fell down and cut my nose and nearly broke my knee,
I thought to be in the fashion like every one I guess,
But now I swear, I'll never wear a hobble gobble dress.
