- In former times people who were sick, were cured by herbs such as dandelion the camomile and celery seeds. Dandelion was usually used for those suffering from liver and kidney disorders. Camomile was used for stomachic trouble.
To cure toothache certain use was made of a frog and the way to cure the "thrush" in young children was to put a goose's or a gander's bill into the child's mouth or to give it any food left after a ferret. People used visit holy wells and pay rounds.
There was an old lady some years ago, who used make very good ointment out of herbs which was sure to cure skin trouble. Her name was Liza Downey. Her ointments cured many people around the place.
