When they came in they told their mother how strong a man he was, so the mother said they should kill him that night when he would go to bed. The tailor was outside listening to them. He was sleeping in a bed in the kitchen and when the Giants went to bed the tailor put in a piece of timber to his bed and went under the bed himself. Later on in the night the Giants came down with three hatches with them and each one of them struck three blows on the timber thinking it was the tailor. When they went to bed again the tailor took out the wood and went into bed again. In the morning when the old woman came to the kitchen she found him as good as ever. So she went to the Giants and told them to get ready as they were going to leave the castle, as she thought the little man was not right. That day the Giants fled out of the castle and the little man got married and lived happy for a long time.
