- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Dumfords Cave: This is a large cave situated beneath castle Brown. It was so called because a man named Dumford who was a leader of the white boys took refuge here when he was on the run. This cave was in later times used by the IRA in the time of the Anglo-Irish war and in the Civil war. Here the last battle in the Civil war was fought. Six republicans were trapped here. Three were taken prisoners and executed three others were drowned.
Poll a piopaire. The pipers hole. An enchanted piper was playing near this hole. A girl was so delighted with the music that she danced and could not stop dancing until she fell dead. Her name was Rourke. Poll a piobaire is near Kilmore Strand.
