- Marriages take place before and after Lent because it is forbidden to solemnise marriages in Lent.
After the wedding every body would have a lovely steed to ride home on, and the first to reach home would get a glass of wine. Then the bride's feast is held in the bride's house, and after the feast a dance is held and presents are given to the bride.
Straw boys visit the house and they are brought in and given something.
