- The people of long ago took three meals every day. One in the morning, one at noon and in the evening. They eat porridge for breakfast which they used to make that morning. Potatoes and milk for dinner. They used to put the dish of potatoes on the floor and all sit round it.
They never eat white cake. They did not drink tea, because it was not known in Ireland that time. They produced all their own food. They made their own meal and flour. They cured their own bacon.
The old people ate a number of eggs on Easter Sunday, but they fasted from them during Lent. They did not eat meat during Lent.
They were very fond of butter-milk and fish. They never eat soft bread.- Bailitheoir
