Ar an leathanach seo
- There are potatoes grown on my farm and there is a half an acre under them.
Sometimes there are more potatoes and sometimes less.
My father always prepares the ground for the potatoes, and sometimes the neighbours help each other in sowing potatoes.
The manure is not turned up, and the potatoes are sown in ridges.
A ridge is made with a plough by turning two sods each side together.
To make a drill:- plough the ground and harrow it with a horse, and open the drills with a plough, and spread the manure in alleys. Next drop the seed then the drills are closed with the plough again.
The potatoes which grow best in my district are:- Kerrs Pinks. The Aran banner The Epicures.
The potatoes are dug in Autumn and the man of the house picks them up(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
