- Wheaten or brown bread was used mostly by the old people. It was made from wheat. Oatmeal was often mixed with white flour for bread, and Indian Meal + Bran made another kind of a cake. Nobody remembers 'querns' being used. Potatoe bread + Boxty were made too and are still made. To make boxty bread raw potatoes were grated down + mixed with flour + wet with water or buttermilk.
