If it rains and big floods rise on New Year's Eve the old people say provisions will be dear for the year. It is an old custom not to break anything,throw out anything or give away money on New Year's Day for if you do you'll be doing so for the whole of the coming year.
The old people say you should have something back with you every time you go out on New Year's Day.Little Xmas.
