The big wind of 1839 damaged this district very much.

The big wind of 1839 damaged this district very much. Houses were blown down, ricks of hay and oats destroyed and fishermen drowned. There was a great thunderstorm about the year 1908 or 1909.
It killed a lot of sheep and cattle but no lives were lost. Crops were destroyed. There was a large snowfall about 1914. In some places it was ten feet high. A lot of sheep were lost in the snow.
