    There are eighteen houses in my townland and a population of about ninety people. Most of all the houses are thatched. There are three families of Conways in Rossmore, but it is not difficult to distinguish one from the other, as their Christian names are different, one being Michael, The other Pat, and the other John.
    There is the ruin of a dwelling-house about two hundred yards from my house. About ninety years ago, a man named Charley MacHugh and his wife and six children occupied this house.
    The Douglas river which rises in the Geevagh mountains flows through the townland of Rossmore. This river is so called because the water in it is of a black shade. The land is not very good, as a great number of rushes grow on it. There is a field near my house which is called "The Drum Field." The reason for this is, because long ago a man named Paddy ban was turning a field and he came across a drum which was mounted with silver.
    In the same field there is a bush called "The Fairy Bush" because it was supposed that if you passed the place
