The way they used to make the rush candles was, they used to get rushes and take the cover off them, and dip them in unsalted butter. There are a large number of kilns in this parish. - 8. There were a lot of old industries carried on in this district long ago. Making of gates and other iron works is still carried on. The blacksmith in our district is Mr Tom Crann. There is a kiln in our district, and it belongs to James Bruen, Carrownadargney, Geevagh, Co Sligo. There is a shoemaker at Conway's Cross, his name is Michael James Conlon. Pat Reilly is a good creel maker.
