  1. Towards the end of the eighteenth century there lived in Corrigeenboy in the Parish of Geevagh and County of Sligo a famous duelist and notable character named Centy O' Rourke a descendant of the princes of Breffny, His name is still a houselold name in this Parish.
    He fought several duels and was successful in all except one. In this last one he was shot dead by a Colonel Percival at Aughris near Ballymote and is buried in Kilmactranny. It is said that a black horse carried his remains and turned pure white at Ballyrush when the corpse was approaching his native Parish.
    His numerous exploits were related at every fireside in the days gone by. He was a very extravagant man; hardly ever out of debt. He used to sit on the
