    For the first fortnight the bridegroom usually stayed at the bride's house before he brought her to his own house. Then when the fortnight had passed the "hauling home" took place and this was almost as importent as the wedding ceremony except that it was the bridegroom's house it took place. At night the straw boys visited the house and a jolly night used to be spent in sport and amusement of every kind.
    These customs are hardly ever carried out now and soon they will be a thing of the past.
