Hurling was seldom played in the district. A few of the boys played hurley in the fields with sticks.
The Derroon's and Drumfin played a game of football in Andrew Baker's field and Batt Henry was referee. The game was never finished because Michael Douyghall and Tom Grady rose a fight and they all left the field.
There was another game between Ballymote and Collooney in Dee Mullen's field. Pat Muldoon was referee. The game wasn't finished as Pat Grady and Michael Langhan fought.
