- There was a football match held in Ballymacelligott between Curranes and Ballymacelligott.
There were twenty-one men on each side. Tom and William Flyming and Mick Mahony were famous in Curranes side. John Neill and Doctor O Brien and Paddy Sugrue were famous in the Ballymacelligott team. There was another football match held in Sandville between Currow and Curranes and I do not know who was famous in that field.
The football at that time was made of a dog's skin, and a pig's bladder was put into it.
There was a hurling match played in Castleisland between Castleisland and Bathmore.
There were twenty-one men on each side. U Eugene Sulivan Rathmore, and John Connor and Jack Herliky Castleisland were the only three whom I can remember to be famous.
