- They had very little food in olden times. They used have potatoes and salt twice a day and they used milk and bread for their breakfast They had tea or eggs or butter. They were trying to make up for the rent and they used not eat enough. The time of the famine people died longside the ditches with the hunger. The English used to give soup to the people who would change their religion and they were called "Soupers" or the "Friday dogs" because the used drink soup on Friday. They were great eaters in olden they used eat for bets. One day two men made a bet to see which of them would eat the most. One man had a sack inside his coat and what he used take to eat he used throw it into the sack and the other man eat until he nearly bursted. The other man was swelled more than the man that eat and he won the bet. In olden times they used eat alot of eggs for Easter. They done four house work before their breakfast.
