- Long ago in Ireland people had only three meals a day - breakfast, dinner and supper. People used to go out and dig the potatoes and roast them for breakfast. Sour milk was drunk. Griddle bread and wheaten bread were eaten. There were specials kinds of food eaten at Easter and Xmas. Before cups were in common use people used to drink out of mugs.
Four men lived in the townland of Annabeg. One man dreamt three nights in succession that there was a pot of gold in a certain place. They decided to go there this night at the hour of twelve to find the gold. At 2 o'clock there was a flag over the pot of gold and they were taking off the flag when a woman appeared to them and told them to leave it there.- Bailitheoir
