It was then left over the fire for about three months and when it was taken down all the hair was gone off it and it was fit for use. Long ago the farmer made his own plough out of black oak sticks which he would get in the bog. A great amount of flax was also to make clothes. The flax was first pulled and saved. Then the old women scutched it with wooden propellers which they worked by the hand. It was then put into loom which manufactured it into thread.
