  1. The name of my townland is Knocknacrann. It got this name because of the trees that grew in it - Cnoc na gCrann, the hill of the trees. The name of my parish is Magheracloone. The name of my barony of Farney. The approximate number of people is sixty or over. The most common family in my townland is McGrane. There are fourteen families in my townland. There are different types of houses thatched and slated. There are no old people in my district that can speak Irish. There are old people who can tell old English stories of long ago. Houses were more plentiful in olden times than now. Some of the houses are now in ruins and more have disappeared. Some people imigrated to other countries in former times. The land is good in some places and in other places it is hilly and boggy. Turf was made in these bogs long ago. Great numbers of people gathered in the Summer time to make mud. Coal was not bought at that
