- In Oram and Tullycaghey between the years 1756 and 1795 there lived about this district one Cadwallader David Mc Birney a protestant who was highly educated both in Irish and English. He had served a term on the British army where he became a Captain. He retired through wounds received in the Spanish war 1754. At that time the laws of England would not allow any child to be taught the Irish language. Mc Birney took on himself to teach the children around the adjoining townland. He had a house in Tullycahey or in Oram where he taught. He had a farme of his own given to him by Lord Blayney for whom his father had fought in 1705. He taught Irish and English to the children. They stayed out side in Summer(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
