Saint Maeldoid remained in this district living with his own people - the O Hanrattys. The English Lord Blayneys were always bringing people from England so that this country was planted with English people and the old inhabitants became scarce. After the monastery was burned the place lay in ruins for years. The people had no place to worship in and Maeldoid thought he would build a church near where the monastery stood for the people to worship in.
