  1. Farrelly was a member of a respectable family in South Monaghan. In 1923 he, with others was arrested for various thefts and sentenced to six months imprisonment in Mountjoy.
When released he sang this song, written by a local bard, at various gatherings.
    "Farrelly"
O Farrelly dear you think it odd,
To spend those six long months in quod,
Or did you think there was a God,
    Before you went to Dublin?
    II
When I think of you I do feel sad,
This Jackson must have been a lad,
Or was it poteen drove you mad,
    Before you went to Dublin
    III
If all that Jackson swore was true
You must have been an awful crew,
You may follow him to Timbucktoo,
When you come home from Dublin.
