There is one in poll bán across Mr. Phelan's field or "Phelan's Paddock" as it is called. This is a short cut to mass and to the schools and all the pedestrianss come this way. There is another one across the Canon's field which is about ten yards fron the chapel. The people from Kilkenny St., come across to the chapel this way. There is an old path leading from Cascade to Gathbawn by the side of the river. On the Balleen river below Mr. Brennan's there is a ford over the shallow part of the river so that there is a short cut from Freshford to Gathbawn. Bathar Croise or the "road of the Cross" is another road. This name was given to it becaue there was a cross erected at the back entrance gate to Uppercourt. After some time it was brought to the Square where it is standing yet but the old name of the road still clings to it.
There is a mass path through Uppercourt wood leading to Ballyphilip and another across the(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
