- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)At GOLEENACORAH near Rennafurraha Sneem is "The Salt House" reputed to have been used for manufacture of salt. It is on site of Capt. Knotts house at Kernafurraha. (?) Knott was Customs Officer. Hence Reenafurraha means Watchman's Point. Tradition says this Capt. Knott went out and boarded some boat engaged in smuggling, was taken off and placed on rock, which would be submerged at full tide. He was rescued however. We are also informed that the first Clifford family in district was aboard, taken prisoner later, but refused to divulge name of owner of boat. Literally Reenafurraha would mean Point of the Watching.
