- 75 Local Cures (continued)
Some of the people who made cures were called Witch Doctors, especially those who cured sudden and strange illnesses of man and beast.
Here is a case in pint that I heard my mother R.I.P. tell more that once. When she was a little girl eleven years old her father had a fine 3 year old heifer that was much admired, by all who saw her. One evening the family noticed this heifer strangely quiet, as if she were dozed. She was driven into the byre with difficulty her feet were stiff and feeble, after standing some time in the byre she fell and could not be put up again. She had neither moan, fast breathing nor symptom of any (kind) known disease. Kind men assisted in turning her from one side to the other(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
