- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Derrynabrone:- This is the name of a townland and during the famine years hundreds of people died with starvation and hunger in this wooded stony and unfertile district. Hence it got the name "Doire-an-Brón" - the wood of sorrow which means the state of grief and loneliness in which the people who survived were in, after the death of their friends.
Derrynaluggie:- This is the name of a townland and as a big bog covers a large tract of it and as a wood once covered it, it got the Irish name "Doire na Boghaighe" which means the wet soft low-lying wood.
Derrynatummie:- This is the name of a townland. This townland was only after been planted with little trees when the tyrannical English came and cut them down, hence it got the name "Doire na dTom :- the wood of the little trees.
Derryadagh:- This is the name of a townland. This district was once covered with an oak wood hence it got the name(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
