    If it was a pig they were selling they would mark her with cart grease. Some of the jobbers cut a mark with a scissors especially on pigs and cattle which was very cruel and each one had a special mark. At the present time some of them cut a bit of the hair, others mark them with raddle which is about the best way. When it is very tight bargain the seller says you can have her free to pocket" which means no luck penny given back.
