- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)were positive that he couldn't have got to the scene of the shooting from the time he passed them. Two other men closer to the scene and who had met Breen also stated this.
Breen's Arrest.
At Boyd's funeral on the 12th August Breen is supposed to have made some remarks about having seen the shooting from, firstly, the road, and then, the field near to it, where he ran for shelter. He also stated that he was able to recognize two of the party who did the shooting. Of course, the remarks soon came to the ears of the authority and Breen was arrested.
Before the funeral Breen had told several people about being near the scene of the shooting but, that he was unable to recognize any of them. No one except the authorities had any faith in Breen and it was evident to all, he only wanted the reward and was prepared to swear to anything. In fact he did(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
