A Local Song
“Twas on the forth of January to Stoneyford we went”
'Twas on the fourth of January to Stoneyford we went,
The night was rough and stormy but on pleasure I was bent
I travelled with a party on Kilkenny's outside Car
To patronise the cricket dance
With friends from near and far.
IIThe room was lent for this event, the truth to you I tell,
By the sporting Kate O'Grady from the well known Lamp Hotel,
Right well 'twas decorated with wax upon the floor,
And the laurels that hung 'oer our heads were plucked beside the Nore.Written by Patrick O'Connor Jerpoint 1913 in honour of the Cricket dance held in the Lamp Hotel Stoneyford.
