In climbing the tree he injured his leg and fell down from the tree. He fell into the fire and rolled into the river Barrow.
St. Moling's men took the roasting cow from the fire and placed it into the hide. They then brought the cow back to St. Moling who restored it to life. The Saint kept the cow and the half of her that had been burnt was brown, and the other half was white.
The Gobban's wife was very angry because the cow was not given again to her. She said that night to Gobban that she would never live with him unless he would pass her judgment on Moling as a wage for his labour. "The oratory is finished," she said; "take no other wage than the full of the orateory of rye-grain." Gobban went to St. Moling and told him the wage he wanted. St. Moling gave him the full of the oratory of rye and he took it away with him. The next morning when Gobban went out to the barn he found a heap of maggots where the corn was.
