   Meantime the old man chanced to let his grain slip from his fingers down upon the ground. He stooped to pick it up but his wife had gone. He swallowed the grain, anyhow, and a seat came down and rested beside him. He got up on it and it ascended higher and higher into starry realms. He watched for
