    wind ceased and there was a severe shower of hailstones. The hailstones were as large as airballs. It uprooted trees It knocked stacks of hay and straw, and knocked the windows and doors out of houses. It took the roofs of houses and carried them for miles, and knocked many of them, also. It killed cattle and horses in the stables, and killed many people, also. After the storm, the hedges were covered with sheaves of corn and hay.
    I got these accounts from my father John Hand, who remembers them being related by his father Michael Hand, Killabola, Inniskeen, Co. Monaghan, now dead.
