- Rafferty the Fiddler "locally Roverty" 1825 - 1895. This man came from around Corduff Chapel but having no fixed abode spent most of his time around this part
of the country and often lodged in some of the local houses. He was born about the year 1825 had a great desire for the fiddle and in due course became a master of it. Many a ceilidhe he played at and especially on Sunday evenings at the crossroads he would play melodies for the people as it was the only means of living he had.

Not only was this man a wonderful fiddler but he could also cure people from different degrees of sickness such as head-aches or chest-trouble he lived to the age of seventy years but going on a call for a cure on a donkey and cart was upset at the Glyde River bridge about 2 furlongs from this school. he fell out on his head and never recovered his speech he was immediately rushed to Hospital but died on the way such was the end to his great adventure. This scene happened about 43 years ago and was witnessed by many of the locals.
