- The potatoes are generally sown in stubble ground and the amount of potatoes sown by us vary from half an acre to an acre.The ground is ploughed in Autumn or early Spring. It is cultivated and drills opened before the potatoes are sown. Some people sprout the potatoes in boxes and others cut them in two and sow them.Small farmers do the work themselves whilst large farmers employ people to plant them.
The potato crop has to be kept grubbed and moulded and the weeds taken away during the Summer.Potatoes are dug out in the month of October. Some people dig them with spades(continues on next page)- Collector
