named Factory lane. There once stood a factory on it. Linen was made there. Around the factory was a big yard. When the people had the linen made they brought it out to the yard and bleached it. It was bleached mostly in summer as sunshine was needed.
In seventeen ninety eight the factory was closed because it became bankrupt. This was a pity because there were many people employed in it, and because it brought money into the town. What remains of the factory is used as a store. Corn and wool are stored in it.
In Church Avenue there is a flour mill. W.P. and R. Odlum owns it. The people in the surrounding districts grow wheat and send it to the mill to be ground and made into flour. This flour is sold in the town and in the towns around it. Lately several silos have been ericted. They are used for drying the wheat. Now much more Irish wheat can be used in the mill as it can be dried after a very wet season.
