People get cured at this well. If they get cured it is the custom to leave a piece of ribbon on a bush at the well. There was a monastery in Killgorey. St Lon lived in this monastery. St Lon invited Colmcille to his house.
Colmcille was very fond of books, and St. Lon hid the books from him. Colmcille found the books and coppied one of them. When Colmcille had finished the coppy, St Lon found the coppy. Colmcille did not what to give him the coppy. St Lon told him. ''to every cow its calf and to every book its coppy'' Colmcille then gave up the coppy.
This was told to me by Pauline B. Graham, Tolerton, Ballickmoyler, Leix.
