In olden times "Patterns" were held at the caves in Kiltabranks. On one occasion the men who went there got drunk and, the story goes, that they suggested going to the castle at Cruinbun to get money which they believed to be there. Many people were afraid to visit this castle because a man named Cruinoun, who was possessed of great power lived there. He himself boasted he did not belong to this world. He had but one eye in the middle of his forehead. On this particular day he came out to the men and asked them what they wanted.
