It was a bright sultry evening not long ago,
The birds throught the woodlands sang sweetly and low.
As the lads and the lassies, for miles all around
Came to see the bonfire on the old Castle ground.The boys from the village, were there by the score
And a bunch of sweet colleens, from sweet Castlemore.
They came from Crenane, so dandy and fine
And a crowd of good dancers from old Kiladine.The Clooncara's and Skeheens were there to a man.
