Date: May 1938Ballaghaderreen or "Bealach a Doirin" means the way of the little oak tree. There was a little oak outside the house where Mr Curley lives at present. The coached ned to stop by this oak tree and on this account it was called Ballaghaderreen.
Slieveroe or "Sliabh Ruadh" means the red hill It is called after a hill in that district. The hill is covered with many bushes which look red in summer.
Lung or "long" means a ship or boat. Boats used come up the river which passes through the village.
