There are different names given to these fairs such as the Ballinafad fair which is held in August.
When a person sells a beast they generally give some luck to the buyer, according to the price they get. If they getting a good price they generally give a half crown luck but if they get a small price they only give about one and sixpence.
There is only one horse, held in Strokestown during the year and that is held on November day and when the farmer sells a horse he generally gives ten shillings luck to the buyer.
