- The clothes that are worn by the country people nowadays are made by tailors and dressmakers. In former times the tailors went from place to place and made the clothes in the homes of the people who required them, but nowadays they have special centres of their own and anybody who wants clothes made has to go to the tailors' or dressmakers' to have their proper measurements taken, so that the clothes when finished will properly fit the person to whom they belong.
In this district there are but two tailors, but it is quite enough, as the people generally go to the town tailors to get their clothes made. In days gone by there were more tailors in it, but trade slacked, and they were compelled to set up in other places or give up tailoring altogether.
