    Brennan, Cloonadra walked to Claremorris and back the same day. Molly Carley kept a little shop in Anratabeg near where Peter Gills house now stands. Once a month she went to Dublin for herrings, salt, blue, starch, candles for her shop. She carried her customers eggs in a cleeve on her back which often weighed one hundred. She would arrive in Dublin at the end of the day with a pair of womens stockings knitted. She would get her goods and start back next day and have another pair of womens stockings completed. This is a distance of sixty three miles both ways.
