Cock fight. Two men were tied with their elbows behind their knees. Their feet were also tied. They would have two sort sharp pieces of sticks in their hands to act as spurs. One would knock the other with his toes and gaff him with the spur until they would be separated.
Another game they play is called "Sawing the timber". One man lies flat in the doorway. A number of men stand inside and a number stand outside. One side catches him by the legs and the other side catches him by the arms. The two sides start pulling one side tries to pull him in and the other side tries to pull him out. Which ever side wins is the strongest.
Another game they play is "pulling the Stick." The two strongest men of the Parish sit down on the floor, and put the soles of their boots against each other. Then a stick is placed on their boots. Each man takes a hold of the stick and starts to pull. Which ever man pulls the other up is the strongest man.
